Debbie Windoloski
“Let the beauty we love be what we do”. Rumi
Working with plants, staying close to nature, being nurtured by my gardens, sharing what I know – this is the beauty that I love and what I do every day. These words written by a mid-thirteenth century Turkish philosopher sum up my approach to life and gardening.
The garden is where my imagination and creativity blossoms; where I collaborate with Nature to create beauty and nurturing places. I truly believe that the growth experienced in a garden is reciprocal. Cares melt away and I feel a serenity that not many other endeavors can provide today. A popular saying tells us “as the garden grows, so does the gardener.”
Sharing this “bliss in the garden”, whether I’m leading a tour here at Gardenscapes, designing a perennial border, leading a workshop on Healing Gardens, or coaching a client how to tend an herb garden, I want others to experience the healing and nurturing aspects of working in the garden.
My personal goal? Making the world a better place – one garden at a time.
– Debbie Windoloski, Owner
I am a Master Horticulturist, having received my certification through the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada in 2000. My passion is creating beautiful gardens in harmony with nature to support songbirds, butterflies, pollinators, beneficial insects and other living creatures. I practice eco-friendly gardening, and have developed a great list of easy-care plants that survive our Zone 5 growing conditions.
Established in 1999, Gardenscapes is the name of my garden design business and also my 1.25-acre gardens located just off Route 9 in historic Hadley, Massachusetts.
My love of plants and animals began at a very early age, with parents who loved gardening and cultivated a love of, and appreciation for, Nature and the outdoors. I have more than 30 years of gardening experience. My gardens and property here in Hadley have been showcased on several garden tours and featured in local newspapers. My entire property is registered as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat™ with the National Wildlife Federation.
I’ve spoken at Master Gardener Symposiums, am a frequent speaker to garden clubs, and I lead workshops at many local garden centers and here in my own gardens. I’ve been a guest on local radio shows and often volunteer my services to maintain local public garden areas. I am a past Vice President of the Amherst Garden Club, founder of a Hadley Beautification Committee, and I am active in several local clubs and organizations.
I’ve designed, installed and maintained gardens for well over 300 customers since beginning Gardenscapes. It’s always a thrill to assist a client in planning a new garden, or in refreshing and regenerating an outdoor space for an older property.
