Design Process

How I Work With My Clients

Gardenscapes has been designing and implementing gardens since 1999. We are known for building on-going, happy relationships with our clients. The following is an overview of our garden design process:

Step 1: Initial Consultation
Once we agree on a date and time, I will visit your home to discuss your project, getting to know more about you, the particular conditions you are dealing with in your yard, and what you envision for your property. I will spend time making observations and will take measurements and photos,  making detailed notes throughout our conversation.
Step 2: Project Summary
I will take what I have learned from our initial consultation and summarize your project to be sure we agree on the parameters. This will include a preliminary design description and an initial planting list.

Step 3: Design Proposal/Estimate

Once you sign off on the project concept, I will prepare your design proposal. It will include sketches using photos of your property to convey my ideas, an itemized list of plants, and a detailed explanation of the project and timeline with a cost estimate for plants, labor, and materials.

At this point, approval of the project is required so I can line up my team of helpers to proceed with the execution.

Step 4: Execution

My local partners excel at installing gardens, stonework, and all forms of hardscaping materials. I oversee every step of your design as it is implemented, working side-by-side with the installation crew.

I personally hand-select every plant and approve all materials that are used on your project. The landscapers I work with are well known in the Pioneer Valley and have years of experience in their areas of expertise. References are happily provided if needed.

Step 5: Protect Your Investment with a Seasonal Care Plan

Your new garden is planted, and it is filled with lush and healthy plants. Everything looks great . . .for now. You ask yourself – how do I keep my plants looking healthy? When do I feed them? What if they need pruning? What care do I give my plants and when?

Gardenscapes understands that new plantings need extra TLC and on-going care.

We offer customized care plans listing specific instructions for each plant that we install, with specific guidelines on the care that is needed for plants in each season.
Ask us to see a sample plan during your consultation.
